Costa Azzurra trades the bright citrus of its Neroli Portofino sibling for a darker, more contemplative Mediterranean: driftwood, salty seaweed and a whisper of oud open over herbal cypress, myrtle and artemisia, settling into a dry, resinous base of oak, incense and vetiver. It conjures pine-shaded rocks meeting the sea rather than a sunny promenade, giving it a green, almost bitter-woody character. It has noticeably better staying power than a typical summer citrus and a more grown-up, unisex feel. Somewhat polarising: the seaweed-and-herb accord strikes some as bracing and sophisticated and others as medicinal.
