Despite the name (mukhallat traditionally means an oud/oil blend), Montale's Mukhallat is a sweet gourmand rather than an Arabic oud attar. It opens on a fruity almond-and-strawberry accord and dries down to a creamy vanilla, balsamic Peru balsam and white musk base, reading as warm, syrupy and comforting. It is softer and more wearable than most Montale, with moderate-to-strong sillage and solid all-day longevity. A cosy cold-weather comfort scent; the sweetness makes it less suited to heat.
