Al Qiam Gold is a rich, dry raspberry-and-leather oud, the go-to budget Louis Vuitton Ombré Nomade (sharing DNA with French Avenue The Shadow and Maison Alhambra Jean Lowe Nouveau). Saffron and raspberry open fruity with a smoky edge, a heart of leather and patchouli adds dark depth, and a base of oud, guaiac wood, amber, benzoin and vetiver dries down warm, woody and smoky. Despite the raspberry it wears surprisingly dry and mature, a strong, long-lasting, masculine-leaning cold-weather statement. Note: needs a few weeks' maceration to bloom; the opening can be sharp.
